Before showing the latest pictures of the construction of the Caledonia modular house in Punta Arenas, i would like to introduce the team in charge of the project. After 30 days of work by only 2 men, the house is now ready for visitors. The Caledonia modular model is a 76sqm single storey house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The house insulation is constituted of a double layer (Glass wool + XPS) and double glazed windows.

The inner walls are made of Fenix Boards, an MgO based panel with the best features on the market: zero carbon impact, fireproof, water resistant, flexible, impact resistant, parasites and mold prood. By using gypsum boards to save costs, other builders will expose the interior walls to any stress. Gypsum board is easy to break and very vulnerable to moist.

  • Roof water and weatherproof : done √
  • Roof tiles : done √
  • Exterior walls water and weatherproofing : done √
  • Exterior walls additional insulation layer (XPS) : done √
  • Exterior cladding and siding : done √
  • Double glazed windows and sliding door : done √

 

The next steps to come will concern the interior :

  • Insulation
  • Services (power, water, phone, etc)
  • Interior lining
  • Paint

Despite the bad weather conditions, the construction of the CALEDONIA model for our dealer in Punta Arenas (Chile) is right on schedule. With a manpower of 2 builders, 7 hours of sun light per day, snow, rain, strong wind, the light steel gauge structure and the OSB-3 wall and roof sheatings have been built in 8 days. The construction should take an overall time of 30 to 45 days.

CALEDONIA MODEL

GUIHAL Caledonia home model has been designed by one of our team member: Sergio Marin. Sergio is an very experienced architect who masters the design of modular houses and light gauge steel houses.

The CALEDONIA has a very convinient family layout. This well proportionned home with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen. A large double glazed french window gives a full access to the garden from the living room.
